Who Am I

About

Lindsey Fowler, LPC

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with over 15 years of experience counseling individuals and families.
My Background
My journey began in 2002 at Abilene Christian University where I received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Bible. Then, I received my Masters of Science in Counseling Psychology with an Emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of North Texas in 2004. In 2005, I received my license from the Texas State Board of Examiners.
Throughout the years, I have worked in several different environments. During my internship, I oversaw two group homes for adults with Intellectual Disabilities. I served as the Supervisor and Behavioral Specialist. Additionally, I conducted psychological assessments needed to qualify them for services. For 2 years, I worked at North Richland Hills Christian Counseling Center conducting therapy for individuals, couples and families. Then, I moved to San Antonio and worked at a community college, where I taught life skills (“Strategies for Success”) and focused on career counseling. Later, I moved back to my home town of Bowie, Texas, and I opened a private practice. While working in an underserved rural area, I counseled individuals with a variety of struggles. I have a passion for learning and growing, which lead to a specialization in EMDR therapy. Beyond helping people through counseling services, I love to share my knowledge with others in the form of teaching. While in Bowie, I taught Introduction to Psychology and Lifespan Psychology at the local community college, North Central Texas College (NCTC).
Now, I have relocated to Granbury, Texas and beginning my practice here. Currently, counseling services are offered virtual but plans to open an office in the fall of 2021.
My philosophies
I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including mood disturbances, managing life stress, past traumas, abuse and interpersonal relationship issues.
I believe that everyone deserves open minded and nonjudgmental support as they work toward their goals. Throughout therapy, I alter my approach and interventions based on your personal needs and goals. As a counselor, my goal is to help each client I work with that every client grows and has a better ability to copy with life stressors. If desired, I am comfortable incorporating Christian principles into counseling. I will encourage you to pursue a healthy lifestyle mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. However, during counseling, I will not judge, preach to you, or try to convert you to a certain denomination point of view. While the theories I work with is from a Christian perspective, individuals and families from any religious background are welcome and therapeutic models will be tailored to their belief system. My goal is to meet you where you are and address all of your needs. I would consider it a privilege to work with you on your journey.
